Ann McGlone, BA, married for 43 Years, has been an Instructor/Facilitator of BioSpiritual Focusing (BSF) for 25 years, including at one time being the California Coordinator of BSF. The original team, organized by Ann, has offered BioSpiritual Focusing at CSD over many years and continue to use this process in their daily lives.
Bobbie Ascarate brings a diverse background to the art of spiritual direction. Her experience in leadership positions in the corporate world, international travel, as a community college educator, mother, grandmother and long time tender of dreams has shown her that God is always everywhere present. Bobbie offers spiritual direction in individual, group and retreat settings. The subject of Bobbie’s research paper for the Art of Spiritual Direction CSD formation program was Dreams: A Doorway to God, Group Spiritual Direction and Dreamwork.
Cecilia Magladry, CSJ, MTS, is the Supervisor of The Art of Spiritual Direction Program at CSD. She has a degree in Speech Communication from Humboldt State University, and did teaching credential work at Loyola Marymount University. Cecilia has a Masters in Theological Studies with and emphasis in Formation of Christian Leadership from the Washington Theological Union. Her interests include spiritual direction, prayer, mysticism, and retreat direction.
Christine Hilliard, CSJ, MA, has an undergraduate degree in History from Marymount College and a graduate degree in Theology from St. John’s University in Minnesota. Scripture is at the top of her “favorite topics” list with Spirituality and Church History running close seconds.
Claire Frazier-Yzaguiree, MFT, M.Div. is a licensed marriage and family therapist ordained minister, and family life consultant who’s specialties include cross-cultural issues, anxiety reduction, stress and time management, compassion fatigue and spiritual development as well as family and marriage ministries. With her husband John Yzaguirre, Ph.D., they co-direct the Prosocial Institute in Irvine, California.
Danny Kurimay is the Senior Pastor at Zion Community Church in Orange, a flourishing non-denominational church which is very involved in social justice outreach ministries. He is a member of the Chaplaincy team for the Orange County Police Department. Danny is married with two beautiful children!
David Hoover, MTS, has undergraduate and graduate degrees in Philosophy, Theology, and Spirituality from Rockhurst University and from the Franciscan School of Theology at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, CA. He has a special interest in the Contemplative and Mystical traditions and the ministry of Spiritual Direction.
Donna Erickson Couch, MA, is the Director of Faith Formation at St. Edward the Confessor Church in Dana Point. A spiritual director, she also has many years of experience as a speaker, retreat guide, master catechist, college professor and writer. A published author, her third book, Together But Alone: When God Means Something Different to Your Spouse, won a first place Catholic Press award in 2009. Ellen Jordan, CSJ, MA, has an undergraduate degree in Dietetics and Food Administration from California State University, Long Beach and a Masters degree in Theology from the Graduate Theological Union, Jesuit School of Theology, Berkeley. She also holds a Masters degree from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in the field of earth literacy. Currently Sister Ellen ministers as a spiritual director and she occasionally presents programs at CSD or parishes on various themes concerned with spirituality and the New Testament.
Felix Just, S.J., Ph.D., a member of the California Province of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), is the Director of Biblical Education at the Loyola Institute for Spirituality in Orange, CA, and a core instructor in the Catholic Bible Institutes and the lay ministry and deacon formation programs of several dioceses. Having earned his Ph.D. in New Testament Studies from Yale, he has taught at several Jesuit universities, and is a dynamic speaker and gifted retreat presenter.
Esther Kennedy, OP, MSW, enjoys creating retreats for women, especially drawing upon Myth and Story as a way into living our lives with greater depth and joy. Her journeys to India and Indonesia have awakened in her a deep sense of the sacred. Esther is a Dominican Sister of Adrian, Michigan and currently is the Director of Spirit Mountain Retreat in Idyllwild, Ca. (www.spiritmountainretreat.org).
Ingrid Honoré-Lallande, CSJ (Carondelet), M.Div., has a BA degree from Mount St. Mary’s College Los Angeles, a Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration from St. Mary’s College of California in Moraga, a Master of Divinity degree from the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley and a diploma in the Practice of Giving the Spiritual Exercises and Spiritual Direction from Regis College (University of Toronto) / Loyola House (Guelph, Ontario, Canada). Her special interests include the person of Jesus, the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola, teaching, spiritual direction and a variety of crafting projects.

Joan Cunningham (RN) has been a Sister of Saint Joseph of Orange for over 65 years! She has a background in nursing (including WWII Navy), chaplaincy and has certification with drug and alcohol programs. Sister Joan is currently a volunteer chaplain for the Orange County Police Department, a ministry she has enjoyed for over 11 years.
John McAndrew, MA, M.Div., is a spiritual teacher, facilitator, counselor, musician and poet. For over two decades, he has directed retreats, workshops, and educational opportunities for people seeking spiritual growth. With a background in literature, music and theology, he has worked in numerous settings, including adult education classrooms, detention facilities, and hospice care. He currently serves as Director of Spiritual Care at the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, CA
Julie Mussché, MA is the Director of the Center for Spiritual Development. In addition to her role as the Director, Julie is a spiritual director, a supervisor, and a presenter. Julie has also served as an organizational development manager whose responsibilities included professional and life coaching, conflict resolution and development and facilitation of leadership development programs, with a significant emphasis on professional ethics. Julie is the author of a book, "Navigating the Spirit: Charting A Year’s Passage Through God’s Kingdom."
Madeleva Williams, CSJ, BA, has an undergraduate degree in Art from the University of San Diego and has completed graduate work in Art at Immaculate Heart College, Los Angeles under Corita Kent and at California State University, Los Angeles. Madeleva integrates art and spirituality while encouraging confidence that each person is a special kind of artist.
Margaret Scharf, OP, D.Min., a Doctorate in Spiritual Direction, has graduate degrees in Spirituality, Religious Studies, and Intercultural Studies from Edith Cowan University, Perth, Australia and Gonzaga University, Spokane WA, enjoying such topics as History of Christian Spirituality, Feminist and Children’s Spirituality, and James Fowler’s Stages of Faith Development. She is also a composer with works published in Australia and USA.
Margaret Silf, MA, travels widely in her work as a retreat director and speaker on Ignatian spirituality. Her books include Compass Points, Inner Compass, At Sea With God, Close to the Heart, Going on Retreat(Loyola Press), The Gift of Prayer: Embracing the Sacred in the Everyday (Bluebridge), and her most recent book, The Other Side of Chaos. She lives in, Cheshire, England.
Mark Koons is a self described religious wanderer, embracing the commonality of all beliefs and in loving acceptance of it's differences. Mark's been playing the quartz crystal singing bowls for many years and feels the sound and vibrations deepens the practice of meditation.

Rose Mary Dougherty, SSND, MA, is Senior Fellow for Spiritual Guidance at the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation in Maryland. She has ministered in the area of spirituality for over 30 years and is well known to many as spiritual teacher, author, end-of-life companion and spiritual guide. As a sensei, she teaches Zen meditation in various settings and assists people in integrating contemplative presence and just action in their lives. Her publications include Group Spiritual Direction: Community for Discernment, and Discernment: A Path to Spiritual Awakening.
Sarah Novak is a teacher of Religious Studies at Mater Dei High School and a married, mother of five, and grandmother of three. She has a B.A. in Religion from Vanguard University and is currently working on her graduate degree in Pastoral Ministry with an emphasis on Spirituality and Justice at Boston College. Spirituality, social justice, and Scripture are among her favorite topics (and of course, she is more than happy to talk about her grandkids).
Steve Bruce, BS, is an Episcopal lay leader and spiritual director. He is the spouse of Diane Jardine Bruce, who is the first woman elected as Bishop in the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles (EDLA). In that role, he is focused on relationships that promote the health of clergy, clergy spouses, and now, bishop spouses. He has been a member of the Commission on Ministry in the Diocese which shares responsibility for the final stages of discernment and ordination of new deacons and priests. He is currently a mentor and supervisor in the Art of Spiritual Direction program at the Center for Spiritual Development. He has led retreats for over 10 years.
