PRAYING OUR EXPERIENCES WITH ST. THÉRÈSE OF LISIEUX
A meditative journal-writing retreat, based on the spirituality of Thérèse of Lisieux, the Little Flower

Monday, June 30, 7:30 p.m. - Monday, July 7, 10:00 a.m.
Presented by: Joseph Schmidt, FSC
Founded on the spiritual tradition that prayer is an invitation to know and appreciate ourselves and our life experiences as providential gifts of a gracious God, this retreat provides the theory and practice of meditative journal-writing as a prayer-practice, based on the spirituality of St. Thérèse. St. Thérèse herself used her own experiences as the basis of her reflective writing and prayer and has left us a legacy of spiritual teaching on the benefit of praying our experiences. Her great spiritual challenge to each of us, to the world, and to the church is to live the Gospel mandate of creativity, compassion and nonviolence in the ordinary experiences of life; as well as to bring healing to our past experiences by enfolding them in the awareness of God's providence.

The retreat, conducted in an atmosphere of silence and respect for the personal privacy of each participant's personal faith-journey, offers opportunities for personal reflective journal-writing, sharing through discussions, communal Liturgy and periods of quiet prayer. Participants are requested to bring their own journal materials (pen and book). $395, commuters $220
